Open Seminar in Writing Musical Theater
About NOMTI
The New Opera and Musical Theater Initiative (NOMTI) is a group of musical theater writers who support each other in creating high-quality new works for musical theater.
In 2008-2009, NOMTI is offering the following programs and services for musical theater writers:
(1) Open Seminar in Writing Musical Theater is an intensive two-day instructional seminar covering the most critical elements of writing for musical theater. This is open to writers at all levels and is recommended for writers planning to apply to the Advanced Writers Lab. In 2008, the Open Seminar was held at Berklee School of Music on November 8 and 9. (2) Advanced Writers Lab is a peer feedback group open to a limited number of experienced bookwriters, composers and lyricists working actively on a project. The application period for the 2009-2010 Lab is now through September 1, 2009. For detailed information, click here. For the application form itself, click here.
(3) NOMTI-Greenroom is NOMTI's yahoo group, providing online community and educational resources. It is open to New England musical theater writers of all levels. Please email dreiffel "at" nomti.org if you would like to participate, as it is by invitation only. Members share opportunities, information and insights related to writing for musical theater. We also post NOMTI-developed resources in the files section.
(4) Staged Readings: NOMTI occasionally sponsors public staged readings of new work.
The evening workshop that met for several years was discontinued after May 2007.
